a collection of aural poetry

Home

Eighteenth-Century Audio is a source for audio recordings of Restoration and eighteenth-century poetry in English. It is hosted at the University of Mary Washington, in Virginia, and much of the work on the site has been done by UMW students working under the direction of Dr. Marie E. McAllister. We welcome you to the wonderful world of poetry written between 1660-1800.

Click on the author list or use the search box to locate a poem from our ever-expanding catalogue. To play a poem immediately in streaming audio, click the “audio mp3″ button. To download it from its home site, click the download link. If you find a reading you especially like, leave a comment in the comment box on each page.

UMW students can become authors as soon as you’ve set up an account with UMWblogs. All others can use the contact link to submit suggestions or links to your own readings.
